NDRF on High Alert: Over 40 BRO Workers Still Missing After Avalanche Hits Badrinath in Uttarakhand

A powerful avalanche struck the Badrinath region of Uttarakhand, leaving over 40 workers from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) buried under snow. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been called in to assist with the ongoing search and rescue efforts. So far, 32 workers have been rescued, and the search for the remaining workers is still underway.
The avalanche occurred during the morning hours while the workers were involved in road construction for a strategic route. The snowstorm that led to the avalanche was sudden, and many of the workers were unable to escape before being trapped. The remote and mountainous terrain of the region has complicated the rescue efforts, making it difficult for the teams to reach the site.
The NDRF has deployed specialized rescue teams, equipped with snow-cutting tools and advanced life-detection technology, to locate survivors. Additionally, the Indian Army and local police are supporting the search efforts. Aerial reconnaissance is also being conducted, with helicopters surveying the affected areas.
The freezing temperatures and heavy snow have made it difficult for rescue teams to work efficiently, but they are continuing the search with urgency. Authorities have also set up medical camps near the site to treat the rescued workers and ensure they receive the necessary care.
