Tamil Nadu BJP Stages Protest at Tasmac HQ, Annamalai and Tamilisai Arrested by Police

The Tamil Nadu BJP made headlines today when its leaders, including K. Annamalai and Tamilisai Soundararajan, were arrested by the police while attempting to stage a protest at the headquarters of Tasmac, the state-run liquor distribution network. The protest, which was organized to raise awareness about the social problems caused by alcohol addiction, was broken up by law enforcement officers before it could even begin.
The BJP has consistently opposed the government’s monopoly over alcohol sales, claiming that Tasmac outlets contribute to a growing public health crisis. Annamalai, who has been critical of the Tamil Nadu government’s fiscal strategy, argued that the state should not be relying on alcohol sales for revenue, as it is causing irreparable damage to families and communities across the state.
Soundararajan also joined in the protest, highlighting the negative effects of alcohol on social stability and family life. The protest was disrupted when police arrived at the scene and detained the leaders for causing a public disturbance.
As news of the arrests spread, BJP workers gathered in support, chanting slogans and demanding the immediate release of their leaders. This protest marks another chapter in the ongoing conflict between the DMK and BJP, as the two parties continue to clash over governance issues, social policies, and their visions for Tamil Nadu’s future.
