Career Story: How Vibhanshu Upadhyay Built a Professional Footprint in India’s Luxury Wedding Industry
Mumbai: India’s wedding industry has evolved into a multi-billion-dollar ecosystem driven by creativity, logistics, and global experiences. Among the professionals contributing to this evolving landscape is Vibhanshu Upadhyay, a hospitality graduate who has steadily developed a career in large-scale wedding planning and entertainment management.
Originally from Paonta Sahib, Upadhyay began his academic journey in 2018 when he enrolled at Chandigarh University to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Hospitality Management with specialization in Resort and Event Management.
During his time at the university, he developed an interest in planning events and understanding the operational side of hospitality experiences. Exposure to the event ecosystem helped him identify wedding planning as the area where creativity and execution intersect.
After graduating, Upadhyay entered the professional world through the event management industry and soon moved to Mumbai, one of the primary hubs for luxury weddings and celebrity-driven events.
Over the years, he has been involved in planning and executing more than 100 wedding celebrations, including destination weddings in Dubai and Thailand. His responsibilities ranged from artist coordination and entertainment curation to vendor management and operational execution.
Apart from weddings, his career exposure also includes celebrity-driven events featuring personalities such as Kapil Sharma, Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani, giving him insights into large-scale production environments.
Upadhyay later served as Associate Director at KYC Events Global, where he worked on luxury weddings and high-profile celebrations across India and international locations.
Reflecting on his career path, Upadhyay credits his university years for giving him the foundation to build practical industry experience.
“Chandigarh University provided an environment where I could explore hospitality and event management as a profession. It helped me develop confidence and the ability to manage large-scale operations,” he said.
As India’s destination wedding market continues to expand globally, Upadhyay is now focused on contributing to innovative wedding experiences that combine traditional Indian celebrations with international event standards.
